Not Wasting Momentum, and Going Vegan (at least for a while)

I’ve slowed down, but not stopped. This week has been a travel week; I just tore down camp, completed a twenty-one-hour road trip, set up camp, and unpacked a booth to open my next show. I am aiming to try and make things weekly for the forseeable future, but I have to give myself some grace for travel weeks. Driving cross-country is hard, no matter how many snacks and audiobooks you have lined up.

Planning out some bigger things. Last summer I made things daily to plan for a shop later, and took a hiatus from posting until the fall. It felt weird, and when the fall came I had a backlog of pictures to take and posts to make. I want to just show y’all stuff I’m making while I’m in the moment. I do have a show or two that I’m preparing for, but I think I’ll manage whatever comes my way.

I have a few pet portraits to attend to, and I want to paint a lot more in general now that my main jewelry event of the year is done (working for another wirewrapper). Representative art is harder for me right now, but I think it’s a matter of comfort level. I have a lot of ideas, I am gaining new skills every time I try, time to really put in the work.

I am using this show to go vegan for a few months. This is not a new experience for me, I play with what I eat quite a lot, and am starting to get good at working around whatever diet restriction a friend I’m eating with might have. The more I think about it, the more I have to say about food, and I don’t see a lot of sane voices talking about the pros and cons of veganism, so I might have something longer to say about the matter soon.
That’s all for now, but I am really excited about the summer, at least on a personal creative level. I know there’s a lot going on in the US right now. There’s a certain amount of dissonance I’m managing as I survive by selling luxuries, but I at least want to use the extra energy I have from things going well for me to contribute positively to the forces of resistance. I want it to feel completely normal to want safety for my neighbors, so I say it loud: Fuck ICE. End the genocide in Palestine. Everyone deserves better than this.
