May Update - New Show
Been super busy this month preparing for my biggest show doing jewelry yet:
I got into the Oregon Country Fair!
My wire-wrapping journey started in Oregon, so I'm happy to return. I spent a summer in Eugene at a hostel, and I traded some of my first wraps for stones. It'll be really exciting and interesting to return! I'll be staying with an old friend who helped me out a lot when I was young and dumb, so it will be nice to return and catch up.
Starting to feel the years of experience collect as I start to plan. I've never felt more confident in my ability to put a booth together. I've been slowly building jewelry these past six weeks, and getting an idea of how much I'm going to need. I want to bring my very best.
I feel like people are reacting well to seeing handmade these days. I work at a jewelry shop for this show, and the number of people who walk in and hear that we're completely handmade and audibly sigh is notable. I feel like seeing people in person is actually quite powerful, too. I truly encourage people to try and go out of your way to have an interaction, learn something about life and the people around you, get better at talking to strangers. It's good for you.
So excited to get in front of more people this summer. If you're gonna be there, come see me at booth 181! I will be absolutely chuffed if you mention that you learned this by reading this silly little blog. The code word is “banana.”

My job as a jeweler and artist pays me enough to eat and brings me to weird places, but I want it to bring me places where I can do more good. Trying to find a project to throw my energy towards that isn't just aesthetic. Right now I'm mostly talking people down from using AI, trying to be a voice for human thought and the environment, trying to get people on-board towards fighting data centers in their neighborhoods. Accepting suggestions.
