100 Super Sketchy Heads

Quick update. I’ve taken a few weeks break from wirewrapping for a very important reason:

A blurry pic of a cat against a sea of paints, canvases and brushes spread on a concrete floor.

I’M BEING ENABLED. My friend has allowed me to set up in his garage for painting while I work a show nearby, so I’m trying to take full advantage this fall while I can! Rainbow space cat to start, because I need to test the limits of my abilities while having a lot of fun. This is the time to get at me for pet portraits!

I am always going to try to make pendants on a fairly regular basis, and I’m up for customs, but it’s slower going. I am still working on prototyping some bee and honeycomb designs for a request and some nice coiled copper designs. Should have that available soon.

Six sketchy heads in a sketchbook in various colors.

While I’m improving on 2D art, I think I’m gonna do a super-sketchy 100 heads challenge by the end of the year. I can usually get an easy five in the morning with my coffee and breakfast. I want to get better at drawing people, so this will be good practice. I’ll make sure to post the results here.

Lastly, a housekeeping note!

I’d said at the beginning of this blogging experiment back in May that I wanted to do weekly blogs. I’m finding that that is a lot for someone who’s main income isn’t writing right now (the Hadestown blog knocked me out, and it wasn’t even that polished). I also feel like it might get repetative and boring since sometimes my weekly progress on art is hard to see. Going forward: I’m aiming for a monthly blog with most of what I’m doing, and maybe a few special blogs in addition if I have anything else I’d like to say. That way there’s a guatenteed check-in (I’m always working on something, so it should be easy), but if I get busy one week I’m not gonna feel like I failed in my blogging duties. I really like documenting my progress, and having a way to show the people that support me what I’m up to in a way that doesn’t have to please an algorithm.
